Starr Family Chapter 17

Juan was worried about his youngest daughter, Jacklyn. Since she had become a teenager, she seemed to have changed. Jacklyn was no longer his sweet little girl….and she reminded him of that every day. Juan was hoping it was just a temporary stage that she was going through.

Jacklyn tended to mope around, spending little time with the family. Her grades were also beginning to fall and Juan and Darlene had to constantly remind her to do her homework.

She wasn’t friendly to older sister Nicola, even going out of her way to avoid sitting by her when she otherwise could. If the truth be known, this didn’t bother Nicola all that much. She was too concerned about her own life to worry about her little sister’s bratty behavior.

Nicola liked to visit her Aunt Lisa’s house. Lisa was quite a celebrity and once she even gave Nicola her autograph. (Lisa is Darlenes sister, Darlene is Nicolas mother). Nicola noticed that Lisa was pregnant with Sam’s baby. This would be their first child since he had been resurrected. (read last post for full story).

Lisa and Sam had a little girl named Jo.

Jo Sekemoto, toddler.

Lisa and Sam had another little girl who is a ghost/vampire.

Jacklyn was even rude to her mother’s friends when they came to visit. Usually she ignored them completely, refusing to speak to them at all.

Darlene tried to talk to her daughter, but it never seemed to do any good.

“Please mother, I told you before…I DON’T want to talk to your old friends! They bore me to death!”

“Look at me Jacklyn!” her mother said. ” Jacklyn looked up, seeing the anger in her mother’s eyes. “The next time you act that way to one of my friends you will be grounded! That means no computer, no t.v. and no going out on the weekends. Do you understand?”

“All right, all right!” Jacklyn said, just wanting to get out of there and go to her room. She could tell she had pushed her mother just a little too far this time.

It bugged Jacklyn that her parents got along so well with her goody-two-shoes older sister.

Of course it didn’t help that everytime they tried to talk to her she would barely mumble a few words before asking, “May I be excused? My show is coming on now?” Without waiting for an answer she got up and sat down in front of the t.v.

Jacklyn usually watched horror shows…full of blood and gore. No one else in the family cared to join her…which was just fine with Jacklyn.

Nicola occasionally made an effort to spend time with her younger sister. She would invite her out to dinner and to listen to music at a hangout near where they lived. Jacklyn liked the music and would usually dance alone or with Nicola. One night Nicola met a guy named Sherman Bagley.

Nicola and Sherman eventually became good friends. They often met on the weekends and danced the evening away.

Nicola was completely smitten by Sherman. She tried to kiss him, but he gently backed away from her. “Woah!” he said, laughing and placing his right hand on her shoulder. “Don’t you know the guy likes to make the first move!” Nicola laughed….embarrassed that she had gotten carried away.

That night as they said good night, Sherman put his arms around Nicola and drew her very close to him…hugging her tight. As he did he kissed her gently on the neck…his lips barely touching her skin…Just enough to send delightful shivers down her arms.

Jacklyn soon had a birthday.

Jacklyn is now a young adult.

Jacklyn Starr, Y.A.

Nicola and Sherman were dating regularly now. Jacklyn met a few nice men at the neighborhood hangout…but no one that really excited her.

Nicola and Sherman became engaged. Nicola could hardly wait to move out of the house and live with him!

Juan and Darlene were very happy about the engagement of their daughter to Sherman. Darlene would like to know his family better though. She knew he lived with his mother and his sister. She would make a visit to meet them very soon. They would soon be family!

Darlene eventually met Shermon’s mother. She liked to be called “Ma Bagley” by everyone.

Darlene also met Sherman’s sister, Rhoda. She couldn’t help but think they looked down on her because she wasn’t as well off financially as they were. In fact, Darlene thought “Ma Bagley” was a snob!

Nicola and Sherman married in a small, intimate ceremony. Ma. Bagley was NOT thrilled about this wedding!

To show her disapproval, she left while they were saying their vows. Nicola and Sherman were happily married and are now husband and wife.

With Nicola married and out of the house, and with daughter Jacklyn now an adult, Juan had plenty of time to pursue his hobbies. He maxed out his painting skills….

….he also maxed out his musical/guitar skills.

Darlene spent more time with her friends…and she even had moments when the house was quiet and relaxing.

Jacklyn met a guy that she seemed to like more than the others. His name is Don Lothario.

Don invited her to his house for dinner one night. Jacklyn was shocked by his house. It was really an old barn! There was no way she would even consider moving into this dump!

Don made….hot dogs….for dinner for them. I guess that’s all he knew how to fix?

And then a friend of his showed up….and then Don crashed out on the floor!  I don’t know…it wasn’t exactly a dream date, that’s for sure!

Darlene is 92 now. She and Juan are still in love….but she won’t live much longer…unless she accepts his offer to “turn” to a vampire. Will she??
