Starr Family Chapter 18

When Jacklyn liked something, she would not quit until she got it….and she wanted Don Lothario. Maybe he was a little older than she was…but that didn’t bother her at all. If Don didn’t call her she had no problem picking up the phone and calling him.

Laughing into the phone while talking to Don, Jacklyn said “Uh-huh. I’ve heard the rumours that you are a heart breaker. Surely you don’t think that will stop me, do you? I always have liked a challenge!” Jacklyn sure didn’t want some boring guy like her bigger sister Nicola married.

Just as Jacklyn hung up the phone from talking to Don, the repo man came into her room and began to take some of her things. “Can’t you see I’m on the phone!” she screamed at him. He just ignored her and took the mirror that stood behind her. (It looks like he’s trying to take Jacklyn…which would probably be a relief to her parents if he did…laughs!)

Darlene was 95 and feeling her age. She rarely went out with her friends anymore. Usually she just stayed home and made sure her family were fed well…even though her appetite had decreased and she hardly ate anything herself. She just felt old…and usually Jacklyn’s behavior didn’t help matters very much.

After laying down for a while, Darlene got out of bed…but she felt so odd.

She must have let out a cry because Jacklyn came running to see what was the matter. She watched as her mother passed away.

Juan was right behind her as he rushed up the stairs to see what was wrong with Darlene.

The grim reaper was there to take Darlene’s soul.

Darlene begged the grim reaper for just a little more time. If only she had a bit more time with her family….to see her grandchildren.  Knowing her pleas were useless, Darlene looked one last time at her husband and her daughter and then was gone.

Jacklyn felt very sad that her mother had passed away. She went to visit Don because she needed to talk to someone or she would go crazy.

“There, there”, Don said to Jacklyn. “It’s going to be all right.” He did his best to comfort Jacklyn as she flung herself into his arms. Now this was something he could get used to!

Jacklyn kissed Don for the first time. It had felt so good to have his arms around her. It looked like she was going to be just fine with Don’s help.

Juan continued to go to work. He mourned terribly for his wife. Sometimes it was difficult for him to control the overwhelming sadness he felt at his loss.

He always tried to pull himself together before he went home. He wanted to appear strong to Jacklyn.

Don started coming around just about every day to see Jacklyn.

Rodney Keaton, husband of Jacklyn’s older sister Nicola, dropped by one day. He was surprised to see Don at the house. He knew what kind of guy Don was and didn’t really like what he had heard.

Jacklyn exhibited her usual manners and basically ignored Rodney as she and Don made out in front of him. Unfortunately, Juan was not at home at the time. “Well, I’m gonna go. Tell Juan I dropped by, will ya?” Rodney asked as he got up to leave. “Uh-huh”, Jacklyn mumbled as she continued to kiss Don.

Don eventually agreed to move in with Jacklyn….though marriage was out of the question.

Jacklyn never was one to think things through very well. She based her decisions on what she thought she wanted at the time. Now she wanted Don to be her mate…so she offered to “turn” him into a vampire. Don shrugged and said, “why not?” and that’s how Don’s journey to become a vampire bagan.

Juan continued to disapprove of his youngest daughter’s behavior. Asking Don to move in with them….then turning him into a vampire. Did the girl never think??? Any time he tried to talk to her about her behavior she would get angry and begin to yell uncontrollably.

Juan just wanted to give up.
